Hello,

Thank you for visiting my site.  I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with an office in Bellevue, Washington.  I work with adults, teens, and elementary school age children using what is called a “cognitive behavioral” approach or “CBT.”  I help my clients develop creativity and resourcefulness to deal with problems and work with them to devise new ways of looking at issues and new behaviors.

I perform diagnostic assessment to help parents and teachers get clear on how a child sees the world in terms of a diagnostic template.  I am not a psychometrist (a psychologist who tests for learning disabilities) but have the ability based on my experience and client research to suggest appropriate “neurotypes” of the children who come to my practice.  My experience informs me that children who fit into different diagnostic “clans” have typical patterns of strength and challenge.  I work to build the force of each child’s unique strengths in his life.

I help parents troubleshoot and develop creative strategies to deal with oppositionality, inattention, learning disabilities, and other issues typical of Attention Different children. And I am a guide for parents as they seek services from a complex set of bureaucracies, including school, involved in their child’s life.

Though I began in the field formally as a crisis counselor in 1976, I have been interested in psychology since I was twelve years-old.  I am trained and experienced in psychosomatic psychology, cognitive-behavioral approaches, and, from 1991, practical neuropsychology.  I am diagnosed with ADD and have other family members with neuropsychological conditions.  This has given me a great respect for the impact of brain chemistry in how we see the world and act.

I am a panel provider for the Uniform Medical Plan and Regence Traditional.  I work with other plans but am not contracted as an “in-house” provider.  I do all insurance paperwork required for client reimbursement whether I am in network or not.
